15 July 2019 Svalbart, day one  

  Today was finally the day! The day we went on a cruise to Svalbart (Spitsbergen)! OUr ship is named the Rotterdam, and is property of the Holland Amerika Line. I am on it with, apart from other tourists and staff, my father, my grandfather and his girlfriend. We share one suite with two single beds and one couch that can be turned into a bed, a room for dressup and such and a bathroom, with a bath/shower combination. On the ship is, among other things: three restaurants, two pools, four hod tubs, a gym, several bars, a casino, a theater, a footbal/volleybal/other sports field, several shops and a lot of rooms, of course. The journey will take three weeks, and we will not only stop on Svalbart, but also on Norway, Iceland and the UK. Diffrent from other cruises we’ve made (Greece and Alaska, my grandfather asked me, my father and one time my mother to come with us, and who says no to an old man like him? Though, this is the first time Fraukje has come with us) this one started in our own country, in Amsterdam. I am super exited! We’ve had emergency drill when we came on the boat, and as always, I hated it. The stairs were emptier though. I have already been swimming in one of the pools and working out in the gym on a bike-thing-simulator, or however you call it. The Wifi is bad here though, so I’ll probably update later, thanks for your patience. We also keep track of the journey on polarsteps, if you comment we can invite you to it.

Valt er nog iets vissigs te zien in al dat water om jullie heen of alleen maar vliegende fauna? Heb het gezellig met elkaar en hartelijke groet aan opa.
